Obituary
Eugene Timothy Dailey (affectionately known as “Timmy”) was born in Bristol, Tennessee on December 15, 1929. He was the son of the late Plez Dailey and the late Jessie Esma Brooks (died in March, 2005). After a brief illness on January 14, 2007 he joined his beloved wife, “Sis” in eternal peace. Timmy was raised and educated in the Bronx where he later met and married Irene Grace Jones who was introduced to him by his only sister, Hattie. To this union three (3) children were born, Eugene Timothy, Jr. Brenda Lee and Antoinette Marie.
In 1951, he joined the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War. He was awarded the Bronze Service Star for Heroic and Meritorious Achievement of Service and the Purple Heart for being wounded in action. He also received the Korean Service
Metal, United Nations Service Metal, Combat Infantry Badge and the National Defense Service Metal. He was honorably discharged in 1953.
In 1956 at his wife’s request he happily settled his family in the community of Bayside and joined Community Baptist Church. A few years later he began his alliance with the Masonic Temple and became a master Mason applying these principles to his everyday life. He was a loving husband, devoted father, grandfather
and an adored great-grandfather. Spending time with his family and friends was the most important part of his life. He shared with his family birthdays, barbeques and holidays. He was a loyal friend, neighbor, mentor and a very well respected member of the community. He had a strong faith in God and after his retirement in 1984 recommitted his faith by rejoining C.B.C. and received the right hand of fellowship. He took great pride and enjoyment in heading the Video Ministry for over 20 years until his death.
In 1958 he began his career as a driver for the United States Post Office and worked his way up to Head Mechanic before being promoted to Acting Superintendent, a position he held until his retirement in 1984.
Timmy was a true Renaissance man who enjoyed the challenge of learning new things. His gift was in his hands and he could build anything from model airplanes to houses. He enjoyed painting, photography, computers and all sorts of electronic gadgets. His friends, neighbors and family continuously relied on his enormous knowledge, strength and expertise. He was always ready, willing and able to help with any problem or task whether asked or he just saw a need.
